School Uniform

A reminder that if you wish to donate any current uniform to the collection we are having to send to the school in Ghana, that this can be handed in from tomorrow onwards.  To support you in doing this, we have decided that Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week will be non-uniform days.  The collection will be uplifted on Friday at 1pm.  We won’t be able to accept any uniform handed in beyond this point.

FairActive Award

We are delighted to announce that we have become a “FairActive” School. Mrs Mack has again been working very hard with our Fairtrade Vertical Learning Group this year to work towards being successful in gaining this award. The children and Mrs Mack have continued to develop the great work that they set in motion last year and have further developed the school’s understanding of Fairtrade.  A huge well done and thank you to Mrs Mack and the pupils who have been part of the Vertical Learning group this year.

P5 Girl’s Tuck Shop

Rachel, Lily, Alba & Megan are really looking forward to hosting their final Tuck Shop this term during lunchtime on Wednesday 28th June. They’ll have lots of goodies on offer including delicious home baking, funny face stamps, fun putty, assorted stationery & hair bows/accessories (handmade by Alba and featured on Twitter).

The girls have worked hard and have been extremely creative, and look forward to continue raising funds next week.  All of the funds raised over the last few weeks will be split equally between the school and charity.  The girls have enjoyed their experience and plan to continue the Tuck Shop on a monthly basis next term. This will be held at lunchtime on the first Wednesday of each month (6th Sept, 4th Oct, 1st Nov and 6th Dec). Please give them your support!

P6 CAKE AND CANDY STALL

A reminder that Primary 6 will be hosting a cake and candy stall tomorrow morning and would welcome any donations.  This will take place between break and lunch time and the children will be given an opportunity to buy if they wish to during this time.  All proceeds raised will go towards the cost of their bus to Lagganlia in October.  This will be put towards the £600 given to us very generously by our Parent Council and to the donations which were raised for tea and coffee at our Nativity shows back in December.  Any donations can be handed in to either the school office or to P6 tomorrow morning.

PARENTPAY

A reminder that all that lunches for week beginning 14th August need to be ordered by midnight on Wednesday 28th June.

Health Week

We have had a fantastic Health Week this week in school.  Huge thanks go to Miss Doddie who organised such a great week for all of the children and staff to participate in such a variety of sports.  A huge thank you and well done also to Mrs Kay and Miss Doddie who led a morning Wake Up, Shake Up for the children prior to school starting each morning.  The children really enjoyed it and it was lovely to have some parents join in with the sessions too

Choir Performance

A huge well done to our fantastic choir who gave an outstanding performance at the Capital Hotel on Thursday 15th June at a very special event for Probationer Teachers.  They were absolutely superb, great ambassadors for our school and we are so proud of them all!  They have had many opportunities to showcase their talents this year due to the very hard work put in by Mrs Kennedy, Mrs Mack and Mrs Gallacher.  We thank them very much for giving up their time so freely to provide the children with these fantastic experiences.

First Minister’s Reading Challenge Celebration Event

We were one of 21 schools in Scotland who were invited to showcase and share our work of the First Minister’s Reading Challenge at a special celebration event on Wednesday 14th June.  The celebration took place at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh and was a wonderful occasion.

Sam, Martha, Ruby, Naomi and Peter  attended the celebration along with Mrs Kay and Mrs Budge.  The children were fantastic reading ambassadors for our school and did a marvellous job of showcasing our work to the many visitors who were there.  The children were excited and delighted to have their book signed by the First Minister and to have their photo taken with her.  A huge well done and thank you to Sam, Martha, Ruby, Naomi and Peter.  They were absolute stars and we are very proud of them.  Some photos of the day can be seen below.

Pupil Reports

The children have been given their end of year reports to bring home today.  Please check your child’s bag if it doesn’t appear voluntarily!  Well done to all of the children for their hard work and effort this year.  We would greatly appreciate it if you took some time to complete the end page of the report which allows you and your child to provide some feedback on the report itself and your child’s experience this year.  Please complete and return by Friday 23rd June.
